The Story Behind Snyder's

Tony Snyder did not set out to build a plumbing company. He signed up for a technical program in high school mostly to get out of regular classes with his friends. What happened next surprised everyone, including Tony.

He discovered he was genuinely good at the trade. More than that, he loved it. Tony went on to win the top award in his class for best plumber and was hired by a local plumbing company immediately after graduation. He spent eight years there, learning the business from the ground up, often taking on side jobs in the evenings to help support his grandmother.

After nearly a decade in the field, Tony spent five more years managing daily operations for a business owner who needed someone he could trust to keep things running. Tony’s own customer base kept growing. The side work became harder to ignore.

In 1995, Tony and his wife MeeLee made the decision to go out on their own. The early years were not easy. They worked seven days a week, 12 to 14 hours a day, building the business from nothing. There were no shortcuts. Just showing up, doing the work, and treating every customer the way they would want to be treated.

Thirty years later, Snyder’s Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning has grown to a team of 12. Tony and MeeLee still run the business together, and the same values that got them through those early years still drive every service call today.

Snyder’s is a family-owned plumbing, heating, and air conditioning company serving homeowners throughout Washington County, MD and the Hagerstown Tri-State area.

We are not a franchise. We are not a call center. When you call Snyder’s, you reach a local team that knows this area, knows the homes here, and has been doing this work in this community for 30 years.

Our team includes licensed plumbers and HVAC technicians committed to honest work and dependable service. Tony personally invests in his employees, paying for their classes and licensing time so every technician on the team carries their own credentials rather than working under someone else’s license. That matters when the person in your home is the one accountable for the work.

Licensed and Insured Across Three States

Tony Lee Snyder holds master plumber and gas fitter licenses in Maryland and West Virginia, including licenses issued by the Maryland State Board of Plumbing, the City of Hagerstown, Washington County, Frederick County, and the West Virginia Division of Labor.

James Paul Durr, a Maryland State Board of HVACR Contractors certified Master Restricted HVAC contractor, handles Snyder’s HVAC work. His license covers forced air heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

The company also carries active contractor business licenses in West Virginia including the West Virginia Contractor Licensing Board, the City of Martinsburg, and the City of Charles Town.

That multi-state licensing is not common among local home service companies. It means Snyder’s can legally and properly serve homeowners across the full Tri-State service area without cutting corners on credentials.
